Muhammad (Peace be upon him), was born 570 in Mecca, a mountain town in the high desert plateau of western Arabia.

His name derives from the Arabic verb hamida, meaning “to praise, to glorify.”

The childhood of the Prophet(Peace be upon him)

Mohammed (Peace be upon him)was raised by his mother Amina binto Waheb, who i keeping with Mecca tradition( Because they believed their infant would have a better chance of surviving in the desert) entrusted her -son at an early age to a wet nurse named Halima Essaadia -God please her-from the nomadic tribe of the Diyar Saad ibn Bakr. He grew up in the hill country, learning their pure classical Arabic And their good customs and morals.

At the age of five, his mother took him to Yathrib, but she took ill and died,She was buried in the village of Abwae on the Mecca-Medina Roads.

Muhammad (Peace be upon him) used to pray alone in cave of Hiraa on Mount Jabal annour ( the mountain houses the grotto) , where he also received his first revelation.

As per beliefs, during one of his visits to the cave, the angel Gabriel (Peace be upon him) appeared before him and asked him to recite the verses “IQRAE BIISMI RABBIKA ALLADHI KHALQ” Read (to recite)! In the name of your Lord who created (all the exists). Suraht Al’Alaq .

The Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) also Confirms the value of knowledge. As the following Hadith narrated by Abu Horrairah (may Allah be pleased with him): “When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people benefit), or a pious son, who prays for him (the deceased).”(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 4005)

The Quraish’s enmity

Initially overwhelmed by the significance of what was being revealed to him, Muhammad (Peace be upon him) found unflinching support in his wife Khadidja binto khouailid(may Allah be pleased with him) and slowly began to attract followers.

His strong monotheistic message angered Quraish (Tribal masters and many of the Meccan merchants), hey were afraid that trade, which they believed was protected by the pagan gods, would suffer.

From that point forward, Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was ostracized in Mecca. For a time, the influence and status of his wife(may Allah be pleased with him)and his uncle Abou Talib.

. After they died, however, Muhammad’s situation in Mecca became dire.

(El Hijra (Emigration

Emigration became the only solution for Muhammad (Peace be upon him)and his followers’ survival(may Allah be pleased with them).

In 622, they headed to Medina , another oasis town, (Distance between Mecca and Medina is 339 kilometers 211 miles)  where they were promised freedom to practice their religion.

The move from Mecca to Medina is known as the hijra—the flight—and marks year 1 of the Islamic, or hidjri calendar.

Victory from God and conquest

Muhammad (Peace be upon him) continued to receive divine revelations and built an ever-expanding community around the new faith.

The conflict with the Quraish continued, but after several years of violent clashes, Mecca surrendered.

The prohet Muhammad(Peace be upon him) and his followers soon returned and took over the city, destroying all its pagan idols and spreading their belief in one God.

The light of Islam lit the whole world.
